L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Awards 2020 edition Life Sciences
Today, only 29%* of researchers are women and only 3% of Scientific Nobel Prizes have been awarded to women.
While men and women are equally represented in scientific courses at the age of 16-19, the representation of women in scientific disciplines reduces when responsibility is increased.
Since its creation 21 years ago, the Foundation L’Oréal, alongside UNESCO, has been committed to increasing the number of women in scientific research. By awarding prizes and fellowships in international, regional and national ceremonies, the Foundation L’Oréal recognizes and supports the career of the most brilliant women scientists.
Created in 1998, the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Awards identify and support eminent women in science throughout the world.
Each year, five Laureates are recognized for their contributions to the advancement of science, in Life Sciences or Physical Science, Mathematics and Computer Science in alternating years.
The 2020 Awards will designate five outstanding women researchers in the Life Sciences, each working in one of the following regions: Africa and the Arab States, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America & North America.
The Awards will be given on March 2020 in Paris to the five women selected by an international jury. Each Laureate will receive €100,000.
The call for nominations for the 2020 Life Sciences edition is now open.
