Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) is now accepting applications for admission to the 2019 fall semester, and applications are due before 31 January 2019
TIGP is jointly organized by Academia Sinica in association with Taiwan’s key national research universities. The program provides an all-English advanced-education environment for young academic talent from Taiwan and abroad. The following all offer Ph.D. degree programs. Each year, TIGP Admission Office receives applications from mid-October until January 31st in the following year. Results of admissions are usually announced in late June / early July; admitted applicants may be enrolled in the following fall semester. The application can be submitted electronically through the online application system(recommended) or by post.
Online Application (Recommended)
To apply electronically, you are most welcomed to create an account, compile your application materials, and submit your application in TIGP’s online application portal:http://tigp.apps.sinica.edu.tw/index.php
If you apply online, you will only need to submit your academic transcripts and test score(s) (TOEFL/IELTS/GRE) by post. All other materials can be submitted online; after you fill in your referees’ information, your referees will have access to our online recommendation portal.

The submitted application materials will not be returned to applicants under any circumstances. All application materials should be received by TIGP before the deadline.

- English proficiency, as demonstrated per
TOEFL score of at least (select one):
- 550 paper-based
- 79-80 Internet-based TOEFL (TOEFL-iBT).

IELTS – generally, IELTS test score is accepted by all TIGP Ph. D. programs as an indication of English proficiency. A minimum overall Band Score of 5.5 on the Academic Test, taken within the past 2 years, is required for admission to programs that accept IELTS score (please refer to the specific admission requirements of your program)

GEPT – instead of TOEFL. Applicants in Taiwan may take the General English Proficiency Test (GEPT), administered by the Language Training and Testing Center, National Taiwan University. Under this option, applicants must submit a high-intermediate level certificate with their application.
- GRE General test & Subject test (requirements vary by program)
- Academic transcript for coursework completed post-high school.
- Three letters of reference.
- Statement of purpose.

Tuition, Fees & Fellowship Information
TIGP offers rigorous, interdisciplinary education at affordable prices. Payments of tuition fees are due upon registration every semester. Tuition fees vary by program. Please contact your chosen program’s administrator for fees’ guidance. On arrival at Academia Sinica, students will find accommodation and daily living expenses very affordable.
Once admitted, TIGP candidates receive a stipend of NT$34,000/month (approx. USD 1,130) for the first year. For students who perform well, this stipend will be extended for a further 2 to 3 years. Post the stipend allowance period, further financial support is dependent upon individual thesis advisors.
